Since 2022, Shades of Africa has been a main feature on luxury cruises around the world.
About the members:
Christof van der Berg is known for his ability to weave languages and genres together through music. He received his first international award for piano in 2002 and the Free State Youth Premier Award the same year. His travels and performances worldwide contribute to his unique writing style, music, and storytelling. In 2018, he created the highly successful production, Shades of Africa, which continues to tour internationally. In 2024, he wrote his first Afrikaans solo production, Chronicles of a Nomad.
Zine Gwija, known for her powerful voice, began performing at a young age alongside internationally acclaimed André Rieu. Her musical theater career started as a student at the Waterfront Music College, after which she performed in various productions in Cape Town. Zine was also selected as one of the finalists for the international theater production, The Lion King. She joined Shades of Africa in 2019 and has since traveled with the group, captivating audiences with her dynamic performances.
Nhoza Sitsholwana is one of Cape Town’s beloved artists. Known for one of the most unique voices in South Africa, she is approached by leading industry figures like Freshly Ground and Judy Boucher, taking her on highly successful tours across the African continent. Her collaborations with artists from the West Indies have gained her significant popularity in the reggae world. Nhoza co-wrote the first music for Shades of Africa in 2018 and continues to travel with the group.
